Chlorophyll is an online literary magazine seeking abundance, desire, community, and insolence in writing.

We're accepting submissions on the theme of 'Sugar, spice, and everything (not so) nice' for our first issue in December:

What does spice mean to you? How about "spicy?" Do you have thoughts about the bloody colonial history of spices, and how we got today's anodyne corporate versions of them? We want to hear about it. We're looking for fresh takes on spice that can be sweet (but please not saccharine), spicy, or anything in between. This is perhaps not the forum for Dune fanfic, but we will absolutely be interested in your pumpkin-spice mystery.

Perhaps, it's a story about the Spice Girls that offers some sort of amusement and escape. Maybe it's the journey of an ingredient that found radical potential through a dish. Or it's an absurd take on spice as your arch-nemesis. Be bitter or be balanced, but have fun with it!
